ABOUT KAREN
Karen was called to the Bar in 2003. Karen has appeared in a range of federal and state courts and tribunals nationally. She has a proven track record of successfully representing clients in complex legal matters.

Karen Garner has practised predominantly in workplace relations law, employment law, discrimination law, human rights law and administrative law. Karen also practices in appellate matters and regulatory enforcement. Karen is committed to achieving the best possible outcome for her clients. Karen regularly travels and is available to work interstate.

Karen has held senior positions in a number of Tribunals and Commissions including as a former member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal (Qld) and arbitrator of the Workers Compensation Commission (NSW).
Karen was appointed Counsel Assisting on the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission inquiry into national workplace relations laws.
Before being called to the bar, Karen qualified with a Bachelor of Laws (Honours), and was admitted to practice as a solicitor in the Supreme Court of Queensland, Supreme Court of the Australian Capital Territory, the High Court of Australia and in England and Wales. She practiced as a senior lawyer in the Workplace Relations and Employment Law Division of a national law firm.
Karen currently serves as the Vice-President of the Julian Wagner Memorial Fund (human rights charity) and is an active member of the Administrative Law Committee of the Queensland Bar Association.
Karen previously served as a Management Committee member of the Industrial Relations Society of Queensland and on the Law Faculty Academic Board of the Queensland University of Technology.
Karen has regularly presented at legal, industry and academic conferences.
